Obtaining LaTeX by anonymous ftp

LaTeX is available for free, and can be installed on any computer running Donald E. Knuth's TeX typetting system. TeX is available as freeware or shareware for most computing platforms.

You can obtain LaTeX by anonymous ftp, from the US, the UK or Germany.

Note: the pointers above are to the LaTeX macros only; you will also need a copy of TeX, which is available from other parts of the above servers. There is around three gigabytes of LaTeX/TeX-related material on these servers, which form the Comprehensive TeX Archive Network.
